Welcome to the NEW Seven Sisters Road

This is the third full iteration of the website, and probably how I always wanted it to be.

In this day of direct social media interaction with the members of Dan Reed Network, a reunited band, an official website, 2 new albums 25 years after the last one, and annual US, UK & European tours, why is this site here?

Once upon a time, there was no internet. Finding out what happened to Dan Reed Network after 1993 was next to impossible. And even when there was an internet in its infancy, things didn’t get that much easier.

Seven Sisters Road was born out of a love for the music of DRN, and to capture their history and impact in one place. With a LOT of research, I was able to piece together a lot of the pieces, and 7sr became a place to look up that band you remembered. I like to think I played a role in the history of DRN and keeping the memory alive. Call me the archivist.

Seven Sisters Road has the most complete discography – albums, singles, promos, bootlegs – when you had to find cassette tapes at dodgy market stalls, etc

The website sat mostly untouched for many years, except for a few updates when Dan Reed came out of hibernation in 2008. I thought many times about updating it and bringing it into the 21st century, but time has a way of getting in the way of things.

So, with 2 weeks to go before the release of ‘Fight Another Day’, I decided it was time to do my own impossible. Rebuild the site from scratch. I did that. And then I worked on adding all the missing info from the original site. It was all local on my PC, but I didn’t upload it, waiting to reach the finish line.

But a couple of months before the release of “Origins”, I found I wasn’t happy with how hard it was to update, so set my sights on a WordPress site, and found a template (Jam Session) that met most of my requirements – not perfect, but close enough.

et voilà – The NEW NEW Seven Sisters Road

To those folks who visited the site over the past 18 years, Thank you. To the band, each one of you that has given me your time, THANK YOU. I can say that these are my friends, and if you would have told 16 year old me that, I would have laughed so hard. I have been fortunate enough to be at soundchecks, sat in the studio during the recording of “Fight Another Day” and Dan’s solo albums. I have filmed many shows by Dan, DRN, Brion, and Blake’s bands. Dan Reed is the godfather of my daughter.

I hope to keep this updated with News. In 2018, we chat with the band at their shows, interact with them on social media, and dodgy cassette tapes are replaced by Youtube videos 5 minutes after the show ends. I should know, I do all of those. I posted the original reunion announcement video I made, at 4am after Dan’s show in Portland.

If you haven’t already, go join The Dan Reed Networker’s Facebook Group.

Anyway, enough of this. Enjoy the site. I hope you find something you like.

Finally, for the role you played somewhere down the line, I would like to say

Thank You

I’m sure there should be more names on the list, and if I have forgotten you directly, please accept my apologies and gracious thanks for your contribution and friendship.
