Notes:
Written during the time of the Gulf War on the road
in Europe, The Heat is a melting pot of political and sexual tensions.
Unlike the previous two albums, The Heat is more of
a grower, not quite as immediate. 'Baby Now I' kicks down the doors
and is followed by a rollercoaster of emotions, with DRN signing
off with 'Long Way To Go'.
Dan wrote 'Long Way To Go' way back in 1989 and played
it acoustically just after having written it on MTV Europe - Dan
was presenting an hour long show as guest VJ - The Dan Reed Network
Show. See the TV
page of the video section for more details.
The then President of the USA, George Bush, is sampled on 'Mix It
Up'
Then there's the other sample - Homer Simpson at the
beginning of "Thy Will Be Done" Doh !
'Money' is of course, a cover of the Pink Floyd song
The Heat was a career-best chart showing in the UK
with the album crashing into the Top 20 at #15
