history of seven sisters road

On the first anniversary of sevensistersroad.com, I took a look back at my original concepts and designs for the site. Please note that all of these concepts are copyright Amrik Kerketta (yes even the hideous initial thoughts) and no design ideas may be used for other purposes under any cicumstances. To be honest, I've put this page together for my own memories, but it gives you an insight into my design process. I hope you like this little look into my creation. For some of my friends who waited a long time for the site to happen, hopefully this will give you a bit of a clue as to what took me so long.

Hmmm, my first concept - my first few days messing around with HTML, oh dear, sometime around the summer of 1999
And then my first few bad attempts at using Photoshop. Note I decided at this very early stage to use the Slam symbols for the navigation
I was trying to be different and not rely on the Brotherhood symbol. That didn't work out ultimately
Just some more experiments, this time, large symbols for the navigation
I then went away for a few months and came back to the site fresh sometime in 2000 with new colors. One thing I wanted was the navigation on the right. I liked the metallic red and yellows here
This was almost the site that 7sr was going to be. I didn't remember til I went back to make this page you're reading now, but I virtually built half of the site using this design. I really really liked it. Still do. This design was somewhere around 2000
So why didn't I use it. Hmm, one thing I found was that red and yellow were quite limiting as colors and I didn't like any of their shades. So very late in the day, I dumped this design. This page shows a detail of one of the interior pages of the site
So I went away at the end of 2000/beginning of 2001, and started from scratch. This design is very close to the final design I ended up with. Look closely and you'll notice the left hand side is different. Once again, it was late in the day that I decided to change it to the navigation you see now.
