Melvin Brannon was the bass player in the Dan Reed Network.

Melvin, along with Dan Pred, was the powerhouse of the Dan Reed Network. His swaggering basslines added the funk to the unique sound.

A hugely talented, amazing bass player, Melvin was an under-rated musician. No musical style is closed to Melvin - he plays everything from R'n'B, funk and rock to jazz-fusion, tribal, celtic and the blues.

On record, his work was maybe understated; there, but not brought to the fore.

Live however, Melvin could really let rip. Staggering bass and guitar duels with Brion James were a highlight of the shows.

Much of the power and the funk of a Dan Reed Network live performance came from Melvin.
